Project Engineer – Electrical

Our team of professionals supports clients across multiple areas, including energy technology, technical analysis and feasibility, economic reviews and detailed pro forma financial analysis, and project development.

Job Description

Position Summary

As an Electrical Project Engineer with NOVI Energy, you will work independently and collaboratively with other team members to complete the development of energy-related projects. You will be assigned ownership of one or more projects and will be responsible for managing the timely and effective completion of all required tasks. You will also support other on-going projects as a subject matter expert for Electrical Engineering-related tasks. This position is based in our office in Novi, Michigan. Occasional domestic and international travel (~ 10%) is required to support our projects and consulting assignments.

In these roles, you can expect to:
-Perform site screening analyses and project origination.
-Develop project single line diagrams.
-Complete interconnection applications.
-Develop site plans, conceptual layouts, and system designs.
-Manage completion of required environmental, cultural, and archeological studies.
-Coordinate with supporting engineering consultants and contractors
-Interface directly with clients, local government officials, and affected residents.
-Support permitting and regulatory approvals.
-Evaluate product suppliers and technologies.
-Provide technical oversight of project EPC Contractors through construction phase.
-Develop and monitor budgets, schedules, and project timelines.
-Complete a wide range of engineering analyses.
-Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments.
-Support the development of project proposals.
-Assess client projects for viability and funding decisions.
-Write and review reports in support of development or consulting work.

Candidate Qualifications

Required:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
-0 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
-Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the energy sector.
-Strong analytical and presentation skills.
-Basic understanding of economics and financial analysis.
-Eligible to work in United States.

Preferred:
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Strong interpersonal skills.
-Familiarity with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and other engineering drawing tools.
-Familiarity with PVSyst, Helioscope and other renewable energy modeling software.
-Familiarity with transmission modeling.
-Familiarity with Smart Grid, Micro-Grid, Battery Energy Storage, etc. technologies.
-Team player with ability to work independently and achieve results in an
unstructured environment.
-Exposure or experience with the energy industry – power generation, renewable
energy, and energy storage systems is desired.
