Project Description

Sponsored by the United States Trade and Development Agency, NOVI Energy worked with the Ministry of Mining and Energy in the Republic of Serbia to evaluate the feasibility and develop the country’s first biomass fired Combined Heat and Power (CHP) facility in the town of Kraljevo. As the Prime Contractor, NOVI worked with the Ministry of Mining and Energy and our subcontractors in the United States and Serbia in conducting the scope of this Project. This work was conducted under a contract that was sponsored by a United States Trade and Development Agency.

As part of the feasibility study NOVI compiled historic data of electricity and heat consumption by residential and commercial customers and developed predicted demand increase for the next five years, provided status of the current energy systems and proposed capital investments needed to increase the efficiency of the district heating system, identified locations for the project, proposed alternatives to the biomass option, provided description of permitting requirements and reviewed the regulatory framework for the energy sector.
